Related LinksGoal.com has reliably gathered that Razak Omotoyossi's transfer to French Ligue 2 side Metz has not yet been finalised because the agreement was done based on the understanding that les Grenats would be playing in the French top flight come next season.
"The player is still talking to Metz because the problem is that the contract was done with a clause that stipulated that he will join them only if they secure promotion to the French Ligue 1. But that was not the case and so the two parties are now trying to see how best to deal with the situation," a source close to the Benin international striker informed Goal.com.
"He is clearly not interested in playing in the French lower league."
Metz finished fifth in Ligue 2 this past season, with 63 points from 38 matches, and as such missed out on an instant return to the French top flight. Lens, Montpellier and Boulogne were promoted.
Nigeria-born Omotoyossi quit Al-Nasr of Saudi Arabia earlier this year after he only played nine games, in which he scored four times.
Despite his club future being in the air for most of the year, Omotoyossi, 23, has kept up his form on the international scene. He netted the match winner against visiting Sudan in a World Cup qualifier last weekend.
In the previous rounds of the qualifiers, the powerfully built striker scored eight goals in as many matches for Benin.
